Terms of Use

These terms govern access to and use of Washington County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or using a search feature indicates agreement with every condition below. A person who does not agree with these conditions should stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, state, or federal government body. It is not a consumer reporting agency. Neither the website nor its advertising partners supplies a service for any use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.

1. What This Website Is

Washington County Criminal History is a private reference site. It does not hold official records, conduct an official background check, submit filings, or act for a visitor. It directs readers to record custodians, including the Washington County Sheriff, local court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Outside search tools may also be linked.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use must remain lawful and must not interfere with the website or another person. A visitor agrees not to:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, Texas, or local law
  • Stalk, threaten, harass, or harm another person
  • Use the information for any FCRA-regulated decision
  • Attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
  • Run bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Disrupt service or prevent others from using the website

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked tool must not be used to threaten, intimidate, stalk, harass, or discriminate against anyone. The restriction is especially important for registry information. Texas law bars use of Texas Public Sex Offender Registry data to injure, harass, or commit a crime against a registrant. Registry information supports lawful public-safety awareness, not vigilante conduct or blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This website does not create credit reports, background checks, or consumer reports and is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. Visitors may not use site content or a linked result to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a tenant or housing application
  • Set credit or insurance eligibility
  • Determine access to a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Make any other decision regulated by the FCRA

Where law authorizes an official check, use the responsible government process or a compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Washington County charge, warrant, conviction, expunction, or nondisclosure rule applies to a specific person. A licensed Texas attorney can assess individual facts.

6. No Warranties

The website and its content are provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Information will always be current, complete, or accurate
  • Every page will remain available without interruption
  • The website will contain no error, defect, or security weakness
  • An outside search result will be complete or correctly matched

Charges, dispositions, access rules, addresses, fees, and public interfaces can change. Verify important information with the office that maintains the original record.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to official agencies, courts, legal resources, or outside search providers. The destination controls its own content, pricing, data handling, terms, and availability. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their conduct. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, design, graphics, logos, and code on this website belong to Washington County Criminal History or the applicable content partner. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss or damage resulting from use of the website, reliance on its content, or use of a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, proceedings, and related costs arising from that visitor's use of the website or violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code chapter 552, governs requests to Texas governmental bodies, while Government Code sections 411.083 through 411.085 limit criminal-history dissemination. Neither law makes this private site an official custodian. A dispute concerning use of this website must be filed in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A change takes effect when the updated text is published on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend or end access to the website at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be limited only as much as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be sent through the Contact page.
