The sheriff's December 2025 monthly report recorded 70 adult arrests by the Sheriff Division and 120 total jail bookings. The totals differ for a sound reason. The sheriff arrest figure measures that division's activity, while the jail accepts people arrested by several agencies and counts intake work. The same report listed an average daily population of 95, five transfers to TDCJ, and two felony bench-warrant transfers. These are monthly operational measures, not a crime rate and not a list of people.
That distinction is useful when reading Washington County statistics. One arrest can generate an agency report, a jail booking, and a later court case. Those events may be counted by different offices at different stages. A tally cannot state guilt or reveal final disposition. A dismissal does not automatically erase the Washington County booking file. Texas chapter 55A expunction or an order of nondisclosure may restrict qualifying records, but eligibility depends on the full arrest and charging history. Review the final court disposition before drawing any conclusion.
